AMS is a leading provider of high-speed non-destructive testing, flaw detection and parts cleaning services for the automotive, transportation, medical device, consumer product and pharmaceutical industries. Our team has conducted comprehensive and detailed testing on automotive safety systems, defense contractor materials, medical devices, and aerospace parts, among others. The strength of AMS lies in our experts who have a robust understanding of the industry and can solve problems using the most recent research and technological tools.
Dale and Joan Thorpe, the founders of AMS, launched the company in 1995 and had more than three decades of experience as ASNT Level III UT Certified Inspectors. They have a national reputation as industry leaders in the non-destructive testing sector. In 2015, Peter and Jennifer Miller acquired AMS with a commitment to honor their legacy and build upon that foundation and expand AMS to focus on creating solutions for clients that proactively address root causes to avert crises and unnecessary costs.
Headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona with offices in Ogden Utah, the AMS management team stays abreast of technology and industry trends to ensure that AMS clients receive the highest degree of expertise, innovation, skills and transparency. AMS’s unique services are supported by the vast knowledge of our experts specialized in various disciplines and certified in accordance with the requirements of the ASNT (American Society of Non-Destructive Testing) and adhere to the strongest codes and standards.
AMS inspires companies to work more efficiently and cost-effectively. We believe that efficient doesn’t mean short cut. We take very seriously the end users who depend on quality and safety in the products we test every day.
Peter Miller has owned Advanced Material Systems since 2015 and has nearly twenty-five years in the transportation safety industry. He began his career with a North American manufacturer of occupant restraints for the commercial vehicle, recreational utility vehicle and child safety seat markets. In this company he held roles in engineering, research and development, quality, and business development. In 2000 he joined Kendrion Holmbergs, a safety solutions company based in Sweden, as Technical Director for North America. Two years later he led the startup of their manufacturing operations in China and served as COO of the Hong Kong operations for five years. In 2008 he joined AmSafe Commercial Products, now known as Shield Restraint Systems, and served as its President until leaving to form Pulse Manufacturing LLC in 2014. Pulse acquired Advanced Material Solutions in 2015, enabling Peter to continue his career-long commitment to keeping people safe by working in the field of non-destructive materials evaluation, serving as President of both Pulse and Advanced Material Solutions.
Gabriel Saldana joined AMS in 2016 and oversees the company’s production operations across all areas, including warehousing, logistics, scheduling, order fulfillment, and all aspects of physical plant operations. Gabriel excels at implementing “lean” techniques at AMS to create more value for customers by the elimination of waste within the system, where the goal is a process that has zero waste. He also focuses on establishing “rigor” at AMS by building upon the company’s positive employee culture.
Prior to AMS Gabriel worked in Production Control and supervised the airbag assembly department at AmSafe, an aerospace safety systems manufacturing company that develops safety and security products for the aviation, commercial, defense and transport industries.
Commitment to his community is important to Gabriel. His entrepreneur spirit led him to found The Studance Lab, which teaches students to conquer their fears through performance and dance, and is flourishing in its efforts to motivate and inspire young people.
